Exciting new changes to the HGA team

Over the last 18 months HGA has seen quite a few changes to its team with our pioneer, John Bredin, resigning from his position as director. Sarah Firth who served the organisation as secretary and Peter Button as director were both involved with HGA since its inception, and have handed over their batons.

One of this organisations real strengths has been the calibre of individual who has sacrificed their time and offered their expertise to see the initiative grow to what it is today and we are privileged to have had these three on our team for as long as we did.

In their stead, we welcome five new members to our team all of whom bring a range of qualities and skills which have already added great value and strength to the initiative:

Misty Weyer, an occupational therapist by profession with a passion for social entrepreneurship, has taken over the role as secretary.

Dale Hutton is an environmental scientist by training and worked in this role for several years, involved in projects in various parts of Africa but subsequently returning to join the family dairy farm in Creighton. Dale is the current Chairperson of the Ingwe Farmers Association as well.

Leigh Stokes, an artist with experience in the advertising industry both locally and abroad, brings creative thinking to the HGA strategy table.

Nathan Barrow has been an agricultural consultant and accountant for 15 years in our district and brings to the board these expertise as well as a passion for education and mentorship and innovative farming techniques to bolster food security.

Cindy Kidger is a publicist whose PR agency represents numerous agricultural companies and organisations in South Africa. Her husband is a dairy farmer and together they own a cheesery which supplies a range of products and cheeses to the hospitality and retail industries in KZN.
