Farming for food security

The year 2020 certainly showed us the great importance of imparting skills to the impoverished to empower them to be able to cultivate their own food for household consumption and to improve their food security when crises such as COVID-19 hit. Members of our commercial farming community continue to offer support in this regard and we wish to acknowledge Dougie Strachan for his tremendous effort among the communities of Mazabekweni and Umzimkhulu and Caroline Long for the work she has done assisting the Vogelvlei community near Franklin. With the support of Standard Bank we have been able to offer assistance to these projects through the provision of tools and facilitated the distribution of seed donations kindly provided by Sutherland Seedlings.
